Shocking. It’s 2024 and I’m still using DVDs (in addition to the usual backup HDDs) as a backup medium for my favorite photos. Only twice a year, but still. When my SuperDrive no longer spat out the DVD, I had to quickly find a replacement on eBay. I could have saved the money by this „trick“:

In MacOs, simply open the terminal and enter the following command:

drutil eject

It took me what felt like an eternity, but it works! The Drive released the DVD again. I am now the proud owner of 2 working SuperDrives!
